President Abbas receive phone call from French counterpart

RAMALLAH, February 16, 2025 – President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas received a phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron.

During the call, the two Presidents discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, stressed the rejection of the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land, the provision of urgent humanitarian aid, the consolidation of the ceasefire, the assumption of responsibility by th Palestinian Authority in the Gaza Strip, reconstruction in light of the presence of Palestinians on their land, the move to implement the two-state solution based on international legitimacy, and the holding of the international peace conference next June.


The President thanked the French President for France's position in rejecting displacement, calling for a ceasefire and consolidating the Palestinians on their land, achieving peace through the two-state solution, France's participation with Saudi Arabia in organizing the international peace conference, and the importance of international recognition and full UN membership for the State of Palestine.

President Abbas also thanked France for all the humanitarian aid it provides, and for supporting Palestinian national institutions and UNRWA.

The President reiterated his absolute rejection of any calls or plans aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from their homeland, whether in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, or the capital, East Jerusalem, which violate international legitimacy resolutions and international law, stressing that the Palestinian people will remain on their land in Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank.

President Abbas stressed the need to stop colonies, annexation plans and attacks on holy sites that undermine the two-state solution and opportunities for peace, security, and stability in the region.

The President briefed the French President on the ongoing preparations for the upcoming emergency Arab summit in Cairo, which will present a joint Arab vision to adopt a plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip with its people, and to emphasize the Arab vision for peace based on international legitimacy resolutions, international law and the Arab Peace Initiative.
