President Abbas receives President of the Supreme Judicial Council in Ramallah

RAMALLAH, December 26, 2024 – President Mahmoud Abbas received the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Counselor Muhammad Abdul Ghani Al-Awiwi, at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah. The meeting was attended by a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Ziad Abu Amr, and the President’s Advisor for Legal Affairs, Wael Lafi.

Al-Awiwi briefed President Abbas on the development in the the regular courts sector, following a number of measures introduced by the Supreme Judicial Council to accelerate the pace of litigation and adjudication of cases, which provides full support to the justice sector in general, and to regular courts, in ways that benefits citizens and enhances public confidence in the Palestinian judiciary.

In turn, President Abbas expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Supreme Judicial Council to improve the work of regular courts, and facilitate litigation procedures to preserve the rights of citizens and accelerate access to justice. He stressed his full support for the judicial sector.

These amendments aim to accelerate litigation procedures and ensure speedy adjudication of pending cases before regular courts and enforcement departments, through the introduction of electronic systems into judicial processes.
