President Abbas arrives in Saudi Arabia to participate in the 32nd Arab Summit

JEDDAH, May 18, 2023 – President Mahmoud Abbas arrived today in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to participate in the 32nd Arab Summit, which is set to convene on Friday.

The President was received upon his arrival at King Abdulaziz International Airport by His Royal Highness Prince Badr bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region; the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit; a number of Saudi officials; and members of the staff of the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Saudi Arabia.

Accompanying the President are the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein al-Sheikh; Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad al-Malki; Director of General Intelligence, Majed Faraj; Advisor to the President for Diplomatic Affairs, Majdi al-Khalidi; and Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bassam al-Agha.

President Abbas arrived in Saudi Arabia from New York, where he addressed a special event at the United Nations headquarters commemorating the 75th anniversary of the 1948 Palestinian Nakba (Catastrophe).
