JEDDAH, April 19, 2023 – President Mahmoud Abbas met today with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in the city of Jeddah.

President Abbas briefed the Crown Prince on the latest political developments related to the Palestinian cause and the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The President praised the remarkable achievements and comprehensive renaissance taking place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under Vision 2030, commending its efforts to strengthen the Kingdom’s regional and international leadership. He expressed deep appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s active and consistent role in supporting Arab and Islamic causes, foremost among them the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to freedom, independence, and sovereignty in their state, with Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative.

The two leaders discussed ways to enhance and deepen Palestinian-Saudi relations and agreed to continue coordination at all levels.

They also reviewed regional developments and exchanged views on efforts to ensure the success of the upcoming Arab Summit to be held in Riyadh.

For his part, the Crown Prince reaffirmed the Kingdom’s steadfast and principled position in support of the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and independence.
