RAMALLAH, March 10, 2023 – President Mahmoud Abbas today congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping on his appointment to a third term as President of the People's Republic of China (PRC), expressing his keenness to further strengthen the historic bilateral relations between Palestine and China.

In a congratulatory cable sent to President Xi, President Abbas extended his heartfelt congratulations on his unanimous election as President of the PRC and Chairman of the Central Military Commission during the ongoing session of the 14th National People's Congress.

He stated that President Xi’s re-election reflects the great confidence placed in his leadership and is a testament to his dedication and the remarkable achievements made under his guidance for the progress and prosperity of China and its people.

President Abbas reaffirmed his commitment to deepening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the State of Palestine and the People’s Republic of China, expressing appreciation for China’s steadfast positions and support for the Palestinian cause under President Xi’s leadership.

He concluded by wishing President Xi continued health, happiness, and success, and the friendly Chinese people lasting progress and prosperity.
