RAMALLAH, February 8, 2023 – President Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, today phoned Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to offer condolences for the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck northern Syria, expressing his solidarity with the Syrian people in the wake of this tragedy.

President Abbas extended his deepest condolences to President al-Assad and the Syrian people, praying for mercy upon the victims and a speedy recovery for the wounded.

He reaffirmed that the Palestinian leadership and people stand firmly alongside their brothers and sisters in Syria during this great disaster and expressed Palestine’s readiness to provide all forms of support within its available means.
