Date : 19/01/2023
RAMALLAH, January 19, 2023 – President Mahmoud Abbas today urged the U.S. administration to intervene and stop the extremist measures and racist agenda of Israel’s far-right government before it is too late.
The President’s appeal came during a meeting with U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, where he briefed him on the latest developments in Palestine, including the destructive policies pursued by the new Israeli government that aim to dismantle the two-state solution and undermine prospects for peace and stability in the region.
President Abbas warned of the grave danger posed by these Israeli measures and their far-reaching repercussions, calling on the U.S. administration to act immediately to halt unilateral Israeli practices, including settlement expansion, daily killings, military raids into Palestinian cities and towns, and the desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Christian and Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem.
The President emphasized the importance of the U.S. administration fulfilling its commitments to preserving the two-state solution, halting settlement activity, maintaining the legal and historical status quo in Jerusalem, reopening the U.S. consulate in Jerusalem, reopening the PLO office in Washington, and ending unilateral Israeli actions that threaten peace and stability.
