RAMALLAH, December 31, 2022 – President Mahmoud Abbas affirmed tonight that the Palestinian people will remain steadfast on their land and committed to their legitimate national rights until the achievement of independence.

Speaking on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the launch of the contemporary Palestinian revolution and the Fatah Movement, President Abbas said: “We say to the occupiers: the greater your tyranny, the greater our people’s determination to confront your aggression and terrorism, and to hold fast to their land and their legitimate national rights.”

He continued: “The extremist and racist plans of the Israeli government will inevitably fail before our steadfastness on our land. Just as we brought down the so-called ‘Deal of the Century,’ we will also thwart the colonial occupation’s schemes—through our unity, our adherence to our national principles, and our peaceful popular resistance.”

The President warned that the continuation of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people “will not bring security or peace to anyone,” stressing that “there is only one path to peace and security—our people’s attainment of their rights and the realization of their free, independent, and fully sovereign state on their land, with East Jerusalem as its eternal capital.”

He emphasized: “We will remain committed to our historical and legal rights to our land, our sanctities, and our property, from which we were uprooted through Israeli tyranny and terrorism.”

Concluding his remarks, President Abbas called on all segments of the Palestinian people to engage in a comprehensive national dialogue in the near future in order to advance toward the fulfillment of their people’s legitimate goals.
