RAMALLAH, December 5, 2022 – President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday evening called for unity in the face of regional and global challenges.

Speaking at the opening of the 10th session of the Fatah Revolutionary Council in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, President Abbas said that the Palestinian people are going through an extremely difficult and sensitive phase due to regional and international circumstances. He emphasized that this situation requires the unity of the Palestinian people, both in the homeland and in the diaspora, along with their allies, to confront these challenges.

The President briefed attendees on the latest political developments in the Palestinian arena, particularly the escalating Israeli crimes and killings of Palestinians, most recently the killing of 22-year-old Ammar Mefleh by an Israeli soldier in the town of Huwwara near Nablus on Friday. The incident, captured on video and widely circulated on social media, brought the total number of Palestinians killed since the beginning of 2022 to 211.

In light of the ongoing political stalemate, President Abbas presented a roadmap to be discussed as a framework to confront the challenges and take all necessary decisions to safeguard the rights and national principles of the Palestinian people.
