President Abbas offers condolences to Pakistani president over victims of deadly flooding

RAMALLAH, Sunday, August 28, 2022 – President Mahmoud Abbas today extended his condolences to the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, over the tragic loss of life caused by the devastating floods sweeping across Pakistan.

In a condolence cable, President Abbas expressed his deep sorrow and concern over the catastrophic flooding and torrential monsoon rains, which have claimed the lives of hundreds, displaced millions, and caused massive financial and infrastructural losses.

The President affirmed Palestine’s full solidarity with the government, people, and families of the victims, wishing the injured a swift recovery.

President Abbas also sent a similar message of sympathy and support to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz.

In response to the humanitarian crisis, President Abbas announced the launch of a public fundraising campaign to support those affected by the floods. He further issued instructions to dispatch a Palestinian medical mission to Pakistan to provide all possible assistance to the injured and affected communities.
