RAMALLAH, Saturday, August 27, 2022 – President Mahmoud Abbas is closely monitoring with deep concern the unprecedented crackdown by the Israeli occupation authorities on Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, Presidential Spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said today.
“The President affirms that this issue is at the top of our priorities, and we will not allow our heroes to be subjected to such inhumane treatment,” Abu Rudeineh stated.
President Abbas has instructed Palestinian ambassadors worldwide, particularly those at international organizations, to launch an extensive campaign to expose the violations committed against the prisoners—violations that contravene basic human rights and all international laws, he added.
Abu Rudeineh emphasized that “the prisoners are freedom fighters, and our Palestinian people and leadership stand united with them and their just cause. We will continue to support them until they achieve their freedom and our people realize their right to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
