GAZA, Saturday, August 20, 2022 – Hamas and the Islamic Jihad movements strongly condemned today the Israeli-led incitement campaign against President Mahmoud Abbas following his remarks during a press conference in Germany last week.

Husam Badran, a spokesperson for Hamas, said in a statement that the movement rejects and condemns the announcement by German police of an investigation into President Abbas over his comments regarding Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.

“Once again,” Badran stated, “international powers prove their bias towards the Israeli occupation and their denial of the historical rights of our Palestinian people and their suffering for more than seven decades, starting with their uprooting from their land and being forced into exile as refugees.

This includes dozens of massacres committed against Palestinian civilians—women, children, and others—as well as the arrest and injury of hundreds of thousands of our people throughout the years.”

Badran added that no matter how much these powers try to distort the truth, ignore the suffering of the Palestinian people, or apply double standards, “they will never be able to erase the Palestinian narrative, no matter how long it takes.”

Khaled al-Batsh, a senior Islamic Jihad official, also criticized the German police investigation into President Abbas, stating that what the President expressed “is part of the national Palestinian narrative, which our people continue to defend before the world to expose the crimes of the occupation.”
