President Abbas discusses ways to protect two-state solution with German Chancellor

BERLIN, Tuesday, August 16, 2022 – President Mahmoud Abbas met today with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin, where they discussed ways to safeguard the two-state solution, including urging the international community to halt Israeli violations and recognize the State of Palestine with full membership in the United Nations.

President Abbas briefed Chancellor Scholz on the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, their land and property, and the Muslim and Christian holy sites, as well as the unprecedented acceleration of settlement expansion and land seizure.

The two leaders also discussed the latest political developments in the region, efforts to revive the peace process, and ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Palestine and Germany.

President Abbas arrived in Berlin last night on an official visit.
