RAMALLAH, Friday, July 22, 2022 – President Mahmoud Abbas this evening strongly condemned the shooting attack carried out by unknown assailants earlier today against former Minister of Education, Dr. Nasser al-Shaer, in the northern West Bank city of Nablus.

According to witnesses, Dr. al-Shaer was targeted by gunfire while leaving an engagement party in the village of Kafr Qallil, south of Nablus. He sustained moderate injuries after being shot in the feet and was transferred to a nearby hospital, where his condition was reported as stable.

President Abbas’s office said that instructions were issued to the competent security services to immediately open an investigation into the attack, identify the perpetrators, and bring them to justice.

The President also made a phone call to Dr. al-Shaer, wishing him a speedy recovery.
