RAMALLAH, Friday, May 6, 2022 – President Mahmoud Abbas this evening condemned the killing of Israeli civilians, emphasizing that the killing of civilians—whether Palestinian or Israeli—only deepens the deterioration of the situation at a time when efforts are being made to promote stability and prevent escalation.

President Abbas warned against exploiting this tragic incident as a pretext for Israeli settler attacks or other forms of retaliation against the Palestinian people. He also reaffirmed his condemnation of the ongoing Israeli assaults against the Palestinian people and against Islamic and Christian holy sites, which he said contribute to a climate of tension and instability.

The President stressed that the recurring cycle of violence once again proves that a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace is the only true path to ensure security and stability for both the Palestinian and Israeli peoples, as well as for the entire region.
