RAMALLAH, Friday, April 8, 2022 – President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the killing of Israeli civilians in a shooting attack in central Tel Aviv on Thursday evening, stressing that the killing of both Palestinian and Israeli civilians only fuels further escalation and instability, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan and the upcoming Christian and Jewish holidays.

President Abbas also warned of the dangers posed by the continued incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and the provocative actions carried out by extremist settler groups. He cautioned against exploiting this incident to launch retaliatory attacks against the Palestinian people by settlers or other parties.

He reiterated that the ongoing cycle of violence underscores that a permanent, comprehensive, and just peace remains the most direct and effective path to ensuring security and stability for both the Palestinian and Israeli peoples, as well as for the wider region.
