RAMALLAH, Saturday, March 12, 2022 – President Mahmoud Abbas today underscored the importance of preserving and protecting Palestinian cultural heritage in all its forms, describing it as “a foundation for safeguarding our Palestinian narrative and identity.”

In a telephone call with Minister of Culture Atef Abu Seif, on the occasion of Palestinian embroidery being inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, President Abbas said that the effort must extend to “all elements of Palestinian heritage, so that future generations remain connected to it, as our mothers and fathers preserved it before us.”

He praised the participation of young Palestinian women who proudly wore and showcased the traditional Palestinian dress, the thoub, during a ceremony held by the Ministry of Culture yesterday to mark this cultural achievement.
