RAMALLAH, Monday, March 7, 2022 – President Mahmoud Abbas affirmed today the Palestinian leadership’s commitment to guaranteeing women their full rights in all fields and ensuring they have access to opportunities.
In a speech marking International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on March 8, President Abbas emphasized his commitment to strengthening women’s participation in all sectors — including education, health, law, the economy, politics, and decision-making processes.
He called on all institutions and individuals, each within their capacity, to intensify efforts to empower women and enhance their role in every field.
The President paid tribute to Palestinian women and women around the world on this occasion, saying: “Whoever said you are half of society did you no justice. Without you, society cannot be sound or healthy.”
He praised Palestinian women for their steadfastness, resilience, and patience, noting that across Palestine there is no household or woman who has not shown strength through perseverance, belief in the national cause, and love for the homeland in the face of colonial injustice.
