RAMALLAH, February 17, 2022 – President Mahmoud Abbas affirmed this evening that the Palestinian leadership will never accept any unilateral measures undertaken by Israel, the occupying power, stressing that such actions must come to an end.
Speaking during a meeting of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, President Abbas reiterated his call to end the Israeli occupation in accordance with international legitimacy and United Nations resolutions.
He emphasized the need for the US administration to fulfill the pledges made by President Joe Biden and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, particularly regarding the reopening of the US Consulate in East Jerusalem and preventing Israel from continuing unilateral actions, especially settlement expansion and home demolitions.
President Abbas also called on the US administration to reactivate the International Quartet and revive a political process that would lead to an international peace conference under the auspices of the United Nations, based on the two-state solution.
