President Abbas discusses developments with Nancy Pelosi

RAMALLAH, February 17, 2022 – President Mahmoud Abbas today welcomed Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and her accompanying delegation at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, where he briefed her on the latest developments in Palestine.
President Abbas emphasized to Pelosi the importance of ending the Israeli occupation of the State of Palestine, halting all settlement activities, curbing settler violence, respecting the historical and legal status quo at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and stopping the forced displacement of Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem.
He further stressed the need to end all unilateral Israeli practices that undermine the two-state solution, in order to launch a genuine political process based on international legitimacy and UN resolutions.
For her part, Speaker Pelosi affirmed the United States’ commitment to advancing peace based on the two-state solution, and underscored the need for all parties to work together to achieve security, stability, and peace in the region.
