President Abbas declares a day of mourning for 7 Palestinians who died in a car accident

RAMALLAH, Thursday, January 06, 2022 – President Mahmoud Abbas announced today that Friday will be observed as a national day of mourning across Palestine in honor of the seven Palestinian workers who were killed in a tragic car accident near the village of Fasayil, north of Jericho, earlier this afternoon.
The President ordered flags to be flown at half-mast throughout the country and instructed that absentee funeral prayers be held in all mosques following the weekly Friday prayer, in tribute to the seven workers.
Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh also expressed his condolences and mourned the victims.
According to Palestinian police, the seven workers, all from the village of Aqraba in the Nablus district, died when their vehicle collided with a lorry on Route 90 in the Jericho area.
