RAMALLAH, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 – President Mahmoud Abbas met last night with Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz to discuss political and security issues, according to Hussein al-Sheikh, head of the Palestinian Civil Affairs Commission and member of Fatah’s Central Committee.

Al-Sheikh said in a tweet that the discussion focused on the need to create a political horizon that could lead to a political solution based on international legitimacy. He added that the meeting also addressed the tense situation on the ground resulting from escalating settler violence.

“President Abbas met with Minister Gantz, where they discussed the importance of creating a political horizon that leads to a political solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, as well as the tense situation on the field because of the practices of settlers. The meeting also dealt with many security, economic, and humanitarian issues,” he said.
