TUNISIA, Wednesday, December 8, 2021 – President Mahmoud Abbas reiterated today his call for convening an international peace conference, in accordance with United Nations resolutions, aimed at ending the Israeli occupation of the land of the State of Palestine, with Jerusalem as its capital.
Speaking during a joint press conference with Tunisian President Kais Saied, President Abbas affirmed that if the occupying authorities continue their measures of tyranny and aggression against the Palestinian people and their land, with Jerusalem as its capital, “we will have our options and measures soon.”
President Abbas arrived in Tunisia yesterday from Algeria on an official state visit.
Earlier today, the two presidents held a four-eye meeting during which they discussed the latest political developments in Palestine. President Abbas briefed President Saied on the suffering of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation and oppression, as well as the situation of Palestinian refugees in refugee camps in Palestine, neighboring countries, and around the world.
Both leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations in all fields and activating the agreements signed between their countries.
They also discussed ways to ensure the success of the upcoming Arab Summit, scheduled for March in Algiers, stressing the importance of restoring Arab unity and adopting decisions that would bring prosperity to the Arab nation and its states.
