RAMALLAH, Sunday, November 07, 2021 – President Mahmoud Abbas today condemned the failed assassination attempt on Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.

The President expressed full solidarity with the leadership and people of Iraq, affirming his rejection of any act that threatens Iraq’s security, stability, or national unity. He reiterated the State of Palestine’s firm and unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, wherever it occurs.

Earlier today, Iraq’s military announced that Prime Minister al-Kadhimi survived an assassination attempt after an explosives-laden drone targeted his residence in Baghdad. While the Prime Minister was unharmed, security sources told Reuters that at least six members of his personal protection detail were wounded in the attack.
