After visiting Jordan and meeting King Abdullah, President Abbas arrives in Cairo on an official visit

CAIRO, Sunday, November 29, 2020 – President Mahmoud Abbas arrived this evening in Egypt on an official visit, during which he is scheduled to meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

Earlier, President Abbas visited Jordan, where he met King Abdullah II in Aqaba.

Palestine's ambassador to Egypt, Diab al-Louh, said the visit reflects the ongoing and continuous consultation and cooperation between President Abbas and President al-Sisi on various Arab, regional and international issues, especially under the current circumstances the region is experiencing.

He added that the two presidents will meet tomorrow, Monday, and will focus on the challenges facing the Palestinian people in their efforts to secure their inalienable rights, achieve self-determination, and establish an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Ambassador al-Louh praised Egypt's steadfast position in support of the Palestinian people and their just cause, stressing that the Egyptian leadership and people consider the Palestinian cause a matter of Egyptian national security and have always given it full care and attention throughout history.

President Abbas is accompanied by Hussein al-Sheikh, member of Fatah’s Central Committee and head of the General Authority for Civil Affairs, as well as the head of the General Intelligence Service, Major General Majid Faraj.
